TAKE THE PLUNGE.

Cold plunging, also known as cold water immersion or cold baths, is a practice that involves exposing the body to cold water for a short period of time resulting in a wide range of benefits including improved physical health, heightened mental clarity, and an overall sense of rejuvenation.

  • Everybody has their own method for waking up; double shots of espresso, a quick workout, and so on. If you’re looking for a quick start to your morning or an afternoon pick me up, cold plunging might just be the answer. Many people turn to cold plunging when looking for a new way to boost their daily energy!

  • Cold plunge benefits extend beyond the mental and chemical aspects of your body too. Sports medicine has utilized cold water therapy for years, to help the active recovery of your muscles.

  • Being immersed in cold water stimulates leukocytes, the white blood cells that help fight off sicknesses. It also causes the lymphatic system to contract, forcing fluid through the lymph nodes. This process aids in detoxing the body and strengthening your immune system.

  • Cold plunging has shown the ability to increase your baseline dopamine. Dopamine is the molecule in our brain and body that is linked to motivation. According to Dr. Andrew Huberman dopamine can enhance our depth of focus and lower our threshold for taking action towards our specific goals.

  • Researchers have known for a while that it connects to our daily energy. In particular, there is lots of evidence that hormone imbalance can contribute to depression, meaning that a cold plunge might help to reduce depression and improve overall mood! Don't take our word for it though, just ask anyone who has ever plunged!

  • The boost in norepinephrine you'll get from consistent ice baths has been shown to be up to 5x. This neurotransmitter can dramatically reduce inflammation and help with chronic pain.

  • Cold water therapy has been shown to be an effective supplemental treatment for stress relief by decreasing the stress hormone cortisol. A study found that regular cold showers and ice baths helped reduce anxiety and improve the mood of participants.

  • When you dip into the Plunge, your body triggers the autonomic nervous system. This system is a network of vessels and nerves, split into two parts that control your response to stress. When you begin to control your response to stress, you’ll likely find that you begin to control your relaxation and sleep.

The best way to overcome the initial fear of something is to gradually increase your tolerance for being uncomfortable. By doing things outside of your comfort zone on a small level, you are eventually more comfortable doing this on a much higher level. Cold exposure is a great way to do this. Even though it’s definitely not the easiest idea to wrap your head around, it’s incredibly effective in building mental toughness. A cold plunge is uncomfortable, so training yourself to face your fears and embrace discomfort is going to make you a stronger, tougher, and happier person. Not only that, but you get to take advantage of all the health benefits that come with embracing the cold!

TURN UP THE HEAT.

Using a sauna offers a host of educational benefits that contribute to physical health, relaxation, and overall well-being. Saunas, typically heated rooms or chambers, provide a dry or wet heat experience that promotes sweating and induces a range of positive effects on the body including detoxification, improved cardiovascular health, muscle relaxation, stress relief, and respiratory support.

  • Sauna sessions can help to detoxify the body by sweating out toxins. Sweating is one of the body's natural ways of eliminating toxins, and sauna sessions can help to stimulate this process. This can be particularly beneficial for individuals who are exposed to environmental toxins or who have a high level of stress in their daily lives.

  • Sauna sessions can help to boost the immune system by increasing the production of white blood cells. White blood cells are responsible for fighting off infections and diseases, and sauna sessions can help to stimulate their production.

  • Sauna sessions can help to reduce inflammation and pain by increasing blood flow to the affected area. This increased blood flow can help to deliver oxygen and nutrients to the body's tissues more efficiently, which can reduce inflammation and pain.

  • Sauna sessions can help to improve cardiovascular health by increasing heart rate and blood flow. This increased blood flow can help to improve circulation and oxygenation, which can reduce the risk of heart disease and other cardiovascular conditions.

  • Sauna sessions can help to enhance relaxation and reduce stress by stimulating the production of endorphins. Endorphins are natural mood-boosters that can help to reduce stress and anxiety, and promote feelings of relaxation and well-being.

  • Sauna sessions can help to improve skin health and appearance by increasing blood flow to the skin. This increased blood flow can help to deliver oxygen and nutrients to the skin more efficiently, which can improve skin health and appearance.

  • Sauna sessions can help to increase metabolism and aid in weight loss by increasing heart rate and blood flow. This increased blood flow can help to burn calories more efficiently, which can aid in weight loss.

  • Sauna sessions can help to improve respiratory function by opening up the airways and increasing lung capacity. This can be particularly beneficial for individuals who suffer from respiratory conditions such as asthma or bronchitis.

  • Sauna sessions can induce a deep sense of relaxation by promoting the release of endorphins and reducing levels of stress hormones such as cortisol. The heat and quiet environment of a sauna can help calm the mind and body, preparing them for a restful night's sleep.

What People Are Saying About The LVF Plunge + Sauna Room:

“At first I dreaded getting in the cold water. But now I crave it! The days I plunge I feel my best! I am more awake, alert, productive and happy. I love ALL of the benefits of cold plunging but I have to say my favorite is the mental strength I have gained. Anytime I’m in a situation where I want to give up (holding a plank haha) I remind myself that I have sat in freezing cold water for longer than this and I can now push through and persevere!”

— Wendy A.

“The new plunge + sauna space is truly a spa-like experience. I’ve been taking classes at LVF regularly for the past three years and adding the hot/cold therapy into my routine has been a game-changer! It feels great after a Versa class and leaves me feeling hyper energized for the rest of the day.”

— Cherie C.

“The energy from this space is pure magic. You will instantly feel welcomed and relaxed. I was familiar with the sauna experience but was anxious about the cold plunge. I followed the helpful guide the studio provided and had a successful and enjoyable session. My husband and I did this together and I can’t wait to do it again! We both felt relaxed and energized at the same time ( didn’t know that was possible). I have a foot and knee injury so this is my goal for restoration. Looking forward to including this in my weekly routine.”
